LATEST TRAVEL NEWS...........

As from the 26th August the single line running on the "South Route" of the DLR to Greenwich will see services resumes as normal. There will be no more changing at Island Gardens and no more supplementary buses.

Commuter Journeys

Boats for Greenwich depart from Westminster, Waterloo, Bankside, Embankment, Tower and St Katherine’s pier at regular intervals throughout the year. The journey time, depending on the tide is approx. 45-60 minutes. Passengers with travelcards are entitled to a 33% discount on the fare.

By Docklands Light Railway www.tfl.gov.uk/dlr/

The DLR is an elevated light rail system integrated with the London Underground system. It serves Greenwich en route to Lewisham. It takes 20 minutes from Bank underground station or from Tower Gateway; 10 minutes from the Jubilee line at Canary Wharf; 5 minutes from Lewisham. There are connecting services to Stratford, Beckton and London City Airport. Alight at Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich.

Greenwich can be reached on Dartford/Gravesend services via Woolwich from four stations in Central London: Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Waterloo East or London Bridge. The journey time from London Bridge is only 10 minutes.

By Bus www.tfl.gov.uk/buses

The 188 bus from Russell Square comes through Greenwich. The town centre is also served by the 177 (Thamesmead to Peckham), 180 (Belvedere to Lewisham), 199 (Canada Water to Catford), 286 (Greenwich to Sidcup via Eltham), 129 (North Greenwich to Greenwich) and 386 (Greenwich to Woolwich).

By Road

The A206 into Greenwich can be accessed from the A2. Drivers coming south on the M11 should continue on the A12 to the Blackwall Tunnel and exit on the A206. Car Parks in the Town Centre are frequently busy, especially at weekends. Drivers can also park in Greenwich Park for up to 4 hours.
