DLR improvement programme - building a better railway

Fast Frequent Thames Clippers now run every 15 Minutes

Announcing increased services for tourists and commuters from Greenwich Pier. From Monday 12th November Thames Clippers, London's fastest river boats, are now departing from key piers every 15 minutes. This fleet of high speed boats offers vital new transport links to The O2, Woolwich and central London

Award winning partnership

The partnership of Greenwich University and Cutty Sark Trust has won an award for their work conserving the historic ship. Given at The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Award Ceremony, the partnership was praised for the use of IT to save the ship.

 

 

 

 

LOCAL TRADERS LOBBY PARLIAMENT

A delegation from Greenwich Town Centre Traders Association recently met with local MP Nick Raynsford at Westminster.  The group discussed their business concerns and up coming opportunities facing Greenwich town centre.

This followed a fascinating tour of the House of Commons,   where businesses found out about historic links between Parliament and Greenwich borough.

Coutts London Jewellery Week: Johnny and his business partner Niall Paisley have been selected as Ambassadors for this inaugural glamour event.

Johnny, Niall and their fellow ambassadors have helped map out the format and events for Coutts London Jewellery Week. This week of prestigious events will focus on the glamour, creativity and diversity surrounding the jewellery industry centred in London.


As part of their contribution to the weeks events, Johnny Rocket are participating in their third Runway Rocks catwalk show in partnership with Swarovski, and Cookson Gold. The piece will be constructed from 6 kilos of solid brilliante silver and thousands of Swarovski crystals

GREENWICH MARKET TRADERS MAKE SHOPPING EASIER

autumn to help customers, both old and new, discover what’s happening locally. Local retailers use the site to promote their businesses, show casing their products and latest offers.

 

This month the web site has a brand new feature - a comprehensive listing of market stall holders operating within Greenwich indoor market. You’ll be able to find out when your favourite stall is operating and check out their newest designs and goods. There’s a wide range of local artists and designers to choose from.

NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM HOSTS DAY OF COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS

 

 


On August 23 2008, the National Maritime Museum will commemorate UNESCO’s recognition of the world’s first successful uprising of enslaved Africans in Haiti on 23 August 1791. The Museum marks the day with a programme of events exploring cultural resistance and the legacies of transatlantic slavery.

NEW ATTRACTION ANNOUNCED FOR SUMMER 2008

The Greenwich Foundation and PWR events are delighted to announce a new addition to the landscape of Greenwich for summer 2008 – an Observation Wheel that stands taller than Nelson’s Column! At 55 metres from the ground visitors will take in panoramic views beyond St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London to the west, across the river and past Canary Wharf to the heights of Hampstead Heath,


and east to the Olympic site in the Lea Valley. In the foreground, the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site will be laid out in a rare perspective.

The Wheel will be situated within the Old Royal Naval College in front of the Pepy’s Building Visitor Centre and will be open to the public from 21 June to 28 September 2008.
